Professional® Exterior is a tintable, water based exterior paint that has been perfected for spray application, to deliver productivity and efficiency gains. It has mould and flash-rust resistance, is self-priming on most surfaces and has excellent opacity. Its low overspray formula delivers an ideal film build and even finish at low pressure. It has excellent application properties, making it ideal for brushing and rolling. All Dulux Professional products are designed to meet the needs of professional painters.

Performance guide

Weather: Excellent resistance to weathering, with very low level of chalking, colour change & dirt pick up.
Heat Resistance: Up to 70C. May soften at elevated temperatures and suffer dirt pick up.
Water: Resists prolonged rain and condensation.
Solvent: Sensitive to aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols and ketones.

Precautions and limitations

All preparation and painting must conform to AS2311: The Painting of Buildings.
• Do not apply to roofs or surfaces used for the collection of drinking water. 
• Do not paint at temperatures below 10C or when the temperature of surface may fall below 10C during the drying period. In summer paint on the shady side of the building.  

Previously Painted Surfaces

Previously painted surfaces

Test if surface is sound. Scrape off all loose and flaking paint. Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable exterior filler. Dulux recommends Selleys® products. Sand all surfaces to a flat finish. Dust off. 

 

Pre-Primed Timber/Fibre Cement 

Preparation can vary depending on the quality and condition of the substrate. For help and advice call 0800 800 424. 

 

Bare (unpainted) Timber 

Fill nail holes with a flexible, exterior grade wood filler. Dulux recommends Selleys products. Sand all dressed timber and remove greyed timber. Dust off. 

 

Bare Brick, Masonry, Fibro & Fibre Cement Board 

Unpainted masonry surfaces should be cured for 28 days before painting. Ensure surface is clean and clear of any loose sand or cement. Fill holes with a suitable exterior filler. Wash down with water using a stiff brush to remove all loose material. To remove any efflorescence (white salts) wipe down with a 5% solution of acetic acid (white vinegar). Hose down & allow to dry. Wash with Dulux Prep Wash and/or demossing chemical to remove mould or moss, then hose down. 

 

Galvanised Iron

Clean with a scouring pad and Dulux Prep Wash. Thoroughly hose off. 

 

COLORSTEEL® 

Preparation requirements can vary depending on the condition of the substrate. For help and advice call 0800 800 424. 

 

ZINCALUME® steel 

Clean with Dulux Prep Wash. Thoroughly hose off. 

 

Steel/Wrought Iron 

Remove all rust by scraping, sanding or wire brushing. Apply 2 coats of Dulux PRECISION® All Metal Primer.

Rinse brush or roller in water before starting and use while still slightly damp. 

Thinning is not usually required. Under hot or windy conditions or on very absorbent surfaces, up to 100 ml clean water may be added per litre to assist application. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling back into paint which has been drying some minutes.

Airless/Conventional Spray

Airless/Conventional Spray

Suitable for application by all standard spray equipment. If necessary, thin with up to 100 ml per litre of water to aid atomisation. 

Spraying Advice: 

Low Pressure Tip sizes: 0.015 - 0.023" @1000 - 1600 psi 

Standard Tip sizes: 0.015 - 0.019" @2200 - 2800 psi. 

Unused paint

Do not pour leftover paint down the drain. 

Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections.

Empty paint containers

Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs.

Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities. Check with your local council first. 

Do not reuse container unless thoroughly decontaminated.
