Is the Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors paint classed as a one component or a two component product?
Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors is a one component product. It simply needs to be stirred and can then be applied.
-
How do I tell if I have vinyl or vacuum wrapped cabinet doors?
Wrapped doors have a smooth continuous edge going from the face of the door around to the side of the door. This means that the covering is like a dish wrapped around the door with only an edge visible from the back of the door. Please refer to our ‘Dulux Renovation Range – How to paint Cabinet Doors’ video for more information on vinyl or vacuum wrapped cabinet doors.
Sometimes the rear edge separates and it becomes obvious that there is a plastic moulded front face on the door.
-
Do I need to remove cabinet doors and hardware?
For best results, removing cabinet doors and all cabinet hardware is recommended. It will be easier to get a smooth finish when coating the doors while they are lying flat. This is especially important when coating doors that are shaped and profiled.
Removal will allow you to coat all of the doors. Overhangs, the shape of the door and tight spaces, mean that some surfaces will be hard to access if the doors are not removed.
-
What can I use to prop up my cabinet doors during the application process?
To make the process easier, take some small pieces of 70mm x 35mm timber and cover them with a towel or other clean cloth.
Set two of these timber pieces on your worktable to support each door to make the face and back and sides of your doors easier to coat.
-
Should I paint my cabinet frames and rear faces of my drawers?
It is recommended that all cabinet frames, doors and drawers be coated with 2 even coats. To ensure a clean, even look, tape the inside edges of each cabinet frame with smooth painter’s tape. Be sure all edges are pressed down to ensure that none of the coating will be able to bleed through.
-
How long should I wait before re-installing my cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware after applying Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors?
Cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware can be installed 2 days after the final coat of Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors has been applied.
Keep drawers and doors ajar until the Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors is completely tack free (7 days). Install plastic or cork bumpers to help ensure there is no paint-to-paint contact between door and frame. Dulux Renovation Range Cabinet Doors will cure completely after 7–10 days. Dry times will vary depending on your weather conditions. Avoid using cleaners on newly painted cabinets for 7 days.
