Previously Painted Surfaces

• Remove any loose, flaky rust by scraping, sanding with p320 sandpaper or wire brushing. 

• Use Mineral Turpentine to remove all grease, oil and rust residues and allow to completely dry prior to priming. 

Brush, roller

• Shake the container for 15 - 20 seconds before opening. 

• Pour contents into a plastic container or roller tray. 

• Apply 1 or more coats of Metalshield Rust Primer™ by brush roller or air spray to a suitably prepared surface. 

• For best results apply Metalshield Rust Primer™ immediately after surface preparation is completed.

• Metalshield Rust Primer™ will darken wherever it is applied over rust. 

• Metalshield Rust Primer™ must be overcoated within 7 days. 

• Application and drying temperatures MUST be above 10C.

Unused paint

Do not pour leftover paint down the drain. 

Unwanted paint should be brushed out on newspaper and allowed to dry, and then disposed of via domestic waste collections.

Empty paint containers

Leave empty paint containers open in a well-ventilated area to dry out. When dry, recycle the container via steel can recycling programs.

Disposal of empty paint containers via domestic recycling programs may differ between local authorities. Check with your local council first. 

Do not reuse container unless thoroughly decontaminated.
