Updates to Dulux Services at Level 2

As we prepare to move to Level 2, we would like to update you on what this means in the way we service you, our trade customers. Our approach remains the same in maintaining our product supply and high standard of customer service, while keeping both our employees and customers safe at all times. Plan your store visit ahead by reading through the changes we are implementing below.

Temporary trading hours this week

14-15 May: All Dulux Trade Centres will still be operating on temporary trading hours. This is from 7 am – 3:30pm only. For Dulux Trade Depots, hours will differ per store. Please get in touch with your local trade outlet for more details.
16 May: All Dulux Trade Centres will be open for trading from 8 am to 12 noon, except our Roydvale branch.

Return to standard trading hours

All Dulux Trade Stores will resume to standard trading hours from 18 May.

Changes to store operations

The move to Alert level 2 means our store premises will be open to in-person transactions. To operate our business safely, we have the following measures in place:

Hygiene protocol: Our stores will have sanitation zones at various points. Please use this as you enter and exit the store.

Contact register: As part of business operations on Level 2, we are obliged to keep a record of everyone who comes to our store. The record will include your name, contact information, time and date of your store visit. This register will be kept secure and confidential and will only be shared with the Ministry of Health or District Health board if required.

Safe distance: Please always maintain a safe distance of 2 metres and follow the relevant signs and instructions from our staff. There will be dedicated areas for entry and exit to ensure we manage the flow of traffic inside our stores. We may also need to limit the amount of people in our stores, and this may differ based on the size of the store. If you find that there is not enough space for you to queue, please come back when there is more space available.

Goods Collection: If you are coming to the store to collect an order placed online, please follow the signs to the collection zone. This minimises the need for you to queue inside the store. Please ensure you have a confirmation note and your order details before coming to the store.

Payment transactions: Physical barriers are set up on our counters to create a safe distance between our customers and our staff. We strongly encourage use of card payments (credit/debit/EFTPOS) or charge to account. However, we will be accepting cash transactions if there is no alternative. We have protocols in-store around handling cash.

In-store facilities: Our shared facilities, such as coffee machines, water coolers, and bathroom will remain unavailable. We apologise for this inconvenience.

Contactless transactions: When possible, we would still encourage you to place your orders via call, text or email. This ensures you limit the amount of time you spend inside the store. You still have the option of getting your orders collected from your preferred store or delivered to your home or work site. Visit this page to place your order through your preferred store.

Interaction with our trade representatives:

At level 2, with face-to-face interactions becoming more common, our trade representatives will also aim to get back on their usual call cycle. During these visits, we will continue to practice physical distancing rules and strict hygiene protocols.

  • Will you allow customers to shop inside the store?

    At level 2, we can welcome customers in store. However, to ensure we operate our business as safely as possible, please ensure you follow the relevant signages and instructions from our staff. There will also be limits on the number of people that can shop at any given time, depending on the size of the store. As such, we ask for your patience and understanding if you encounter delays.

  • Can I still place an order online and collect it from the store?

    Yes, this service is still available across our trade distribution network. Ensure you have received a note from the store advising that your order is ready prior to coming to the store to ensure your time spent in store is kept at minimum. Learn more here

  • Can I pay in cash/EFTPOS when I collect my paint?

    At level 2, we would still strongly encourage use of card payments (credit/debit/EFTPOS) or charge to account. However, we will be accepting cash transactions if there is no alternative. We have protocols in-store around handling cash.

  • Will you deliver paint?

    Yes, you can take advantage of our premium paint delivery. Simply place your order to your preferred store and we will have your order prepared and delivered. Delivery times may vary. Please check this page out for more details.

  • What's the cost to get my paint delivered?

    Effective 18th May, delivery orders from Dulux Trade Centres will be charged as follows:
    a. 1-10L $10.00
    b. 11-30L $20.00
    c. 31Lt + $30.00
    Non-paint items such as accessories purchased alone will incur the minimum delivery charge of $10.00.
    For deliveries from Dulux trade depots, please inquire directly from the store when you place your order.

  • How can I confirm my order has been dispatched?

    Our team will let you know once your order is dispatched.

  • Will I need to sign a docket to confirm receipt?

    For your safety, as well as our teams, you will not be required to sign a docket to receive a delivery. On arrival to your preferred delivery location, our team will be sending you a photo of your order docket plus a photo of the items you have ordered.

  • Can I bring empty pails to recycle?

    At Level 2, we are able to accept pails for recycling again. Please ensure they are compliant before bringing them to collection depots. Visit painttakeback.co.nz for a list of participating Dulux outlets and eligibility criteria.

In line with the government’s COVID-19 actions, all our Dulux Trade Centres will be closing as of 5pm today, Wednesday 25th March, for a period of at least 4 weeks. During this period of closure, we will be unable to fulfil any email or phone orders.

Dulux is in full support of the government’s actions around COVID-19 and our closures will ensure our employees and customers stay safe and well. Dulux will continue to act on the advice of the Government.

We anticipate that toward the end of the lockdown period the Government will inform us of the appropriate next steps it wishes to take regarding COVID-19. We will endeavour to keep you informed as the situation continues to evolve.

Highlights: Dulux Tradies XI Vs. Hauraki ACC XI T20 Match

Friday 8th November 2019 was an eventful day in the sun for the first ever ACC versus Dulux Tradies XI squad. The nail biting match was tied after the final ball and required a ‘bowl-off’ in extra time to secure a win on the day. However, the Dulux Tradies XI led by Hadley Vaughan came out on top in the tie-breaker.

80 Years Making Great Paint in NZ

This year Dulux celebrate 80 years manufacturing right here in New Zealand. Dulux opened our first New Zealand manufacturing plant in Gracefield, Lower Hutt in 1939. Just as trends and fashions have changed over the years, so too have we.
