The 2012 Dulux Colour Awards judging panel is packed with leading names from the Australian and New Zealand design industry.

Peter Maddison

Director Maddison Architects Pty Ltd, Host of Grand Designs Australia

PeterMaddison

An award-winning architect, businessman and television host, Peter Maddison has 26 years experience and expertise in creating award-winning residential and commercial projects with a strong focus on holistic design.

After completing his Bachelor of Architecture at RMIT, Peter gained experience at pre-eminent Melbourne architectural practices for eight years, before opening Maddison Architects in 1989.

Peter has contributed to the profession's development through long term involvement with the Australian Institute of Architects, RMIT, Melbourne University, Deakin University, Design Institute of Australia, Heritage Victoria and the Architects' Registration Board.

In 2009 he was approached to host Grand Designs Australia. With Peter at the helm, the show was awarded Best Lifestyle Program at the Astra 2010 Awards and Peter received the Best New Talent Award. He is currently shooting Season 2.


Kim Chadwick

A leading colour authority and designer, Kim established Blend Colour Marketing & Design in 1997, working with Australian companies to develop the right colours and products desirable to architects, interior designers and home buyers alike.

As director of the award winning design firm, Kim has chosen the colours of our inherently Australian corrugated roofs, hand-picked hundreds of paint colours for our homes, created kitchens and bathroom solutions, chosen tiles, windows, carpets, blinds and bricks for some of Australia's leading brands and biggest manufacturers.

In 2011, Kim Chadwick and Lucy Sutherland were appointed by the Design Institute of Australia to re-launch and manage Colourways, Australia and New Zealand's leading trend forecasting organisation.

 


Kim has also penned international colour trend columns, created sets, styled and art directed advertising images, forecast Australian and New Zealand colour trends, not to mention winning a few of her own awards over the years.

 

Lucy Feagins

Stylist and Editor of The Design Files

Lucy Feagins is the Melbourne stylist behind one of Australia's favourite daily design blog - The Design Files (www.thedesignfiles.net)

Started in 2008, The Design Files is a vibrant scrapbook and think piece for design in all its forms - from architecture and interiors to art, craft, graphic design and illustration. The site is packed full of engaging images, stories, quirky ideas, sneak peeks inside Australian homes, plus weekly interviews with some of Australia's most talented designers and creative people.

The Design Files has been featured in publications including The Age, The Good Weekend, Urbis, Design Quarterly, Inside Out Magazine and Real Living Magazine. In 2009 it was named by The Times (UK) as one of the world's Top 50 design blogs.

These days Lucy contributes design news and feature stories to Australian magazines such as The Age Melbourne Magazine and Good Weekend. She continues to work as an interior stylist for advertisements, film and television productions, and editorial photo shoots.


Jeff Fearon
Principal of Fearon Hay (New Zealand)

Jeff Fearon

With a true passion for architecture and unique design, Jeff Fearon, is a principal and co-founder of the award winning Auckland-based architectural practice, Fearon Hay, which at the age of 26, he established with business partner, Tim Hay. Thirteen years on Fearon Hay is known across New Zealand, Australia and wider afield for its innovative and design-led residential and commercial architecture located in diverse environments ranging from coastal, urban, rural, lakeside and alpine.

Fearon Hay has been involved in a wide range of projects, including the current reinterpretation of the original 1880s Imperial Building, bordering Auckland's famous Queen Street and Fort Lane, and the New Zealand Institute of Architects' 2011 International Architecture Award winning project - the Tribeca Loft, located in New York.

New Zealand born, Fearon has a first class honours degree in Architecture from the University of Queensland.

The Dulux panel to judge the first round of entries will be:

Andrea Lucena-Orr
Colour and Communications Manager, Dulux Australia

With a strong background in colour and design, Andrea's role at Dulux encompasses trends and colour forecasting, with her recommendations playing an integral part in Dulux's marketing strategies. She spends much of her time travelling, researching and absorbing new colour trends, and presenting her findings to trade, retail and media. A member of the international Colour Marketing Group (CMG) and International Color Association (AIC), Andrea scours the globe in pursuit of her passion - colour forecasting.

 

Julie Johnston
Colour Development and Logistics Manager, Dulux Australia

Responsible for developing creative, purchasing and managing the manufacturing of all Dulux colour material, Julie is continually sourcing new methods from around the globe to ensure new trends and colour concepts are represented in Dulux's vision. In addition, Julie and her team are responsible for developing Dulux's creative colour names.

 

Gavin Gilligan
Marketing Manager Colour, Dulux Australia

Gavin is responsible for the strategic integration of colour and related activities into the Dulux Australia business. Gavin is a Certified Practicing Marketer and Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.


Gretchen Flynn
Project Services Representative - Architects & Designers, Dulux New Zealand

As Dulux New Zealand's colour guru and interior design expert, Gretchen's role at Dulux sees her working closely with architects, designers and specifiers throughout New Zealand, where she assists them with colour and specification advice for their projects.

A Graduate of the School of Interior Design in Christchurch, Gretchen has been a part of the Dulux team for nearly six years. Prior to joining the company, Gretchen lectured at Christchurch's School of Interior Design and owned the New South Wales Aalto Colour paint franchise for eight years.
